Learn more about Jill, and how she came to write "How to write a great bio"
I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, but the closest I ever came to livestock in my childhood was watching the parades held during the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo every July.
During my junior year in college at Colorado State University, where I was studying Journalism, I was offered an editorial internship with a cattle magazine called the Limousin Journal. I knew nothing about the breed, but I learned fast, and it taught me that subject matter isn't really what defines a good writer.
What matters is how well you convey your message, and whether or not you ultimately achieve your goal, generally to inform educate, persuade, sell, or all of the above. A good bio will generally do all three!
Life moved on, as it does, and following 13 years in the United Kingdom where I worked for an international direct mail organization, I returned to the U.S. and started my own business as a copywriter.
Luckily for me, the internet is copy hungry, and even better, allows me to work with people anywhere because most of what I do is 'virtual'. I can promise you this. You can feel free to call me about your writing needs. I am a real person! I live in Paradise, CA, and most days I am in front of my computer working on a project for someone that involves writing something.
When people tell me they're not good at writing, my response is, "that's okay!" It's all about talent sharing. If we were all good at the same things who would pay us?
Please call or email me. I can help.
